R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The boys' 400-meter relay team from Paducah High
  School achieved great distinction by winning the University
  Interscholastic League 1A Division 2 state championship and
  establishing a new state record for the event at the 2013 University
  Interscholastic League Track and Field State Meet; and
         WHEREAS, Following a first-place finish at the regional meet,
  the Dragons relay squad arrived at the state competition on May 10
  in Austin with momentum on their side; runners Cody Austin, Oscar
  Mathis, Devron Brisco, and Austin Parton did not disappoint, as
  they claimed the gold medal and etched their names in the state
  record book with a remarkable time of 43.56 seconds; later that day,
  Mr. Brisco also took part in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in
  fifth place; and
         WHEREAS, Expertly guided by their coach, Paducah native Billy
  Hutchinson, the relay squad also received notable contributions
  throughout the season from alternates Rickey Searcy and Cole
  Parton, who competed in a number of 4 x 100 events in advance of the
  state meet; and
         WHEREAS, With their exceptional demonstration of speed and
  determination, the talented student-athletes of the boys' 
  400-meter relay team have reached the pinnacle of success in their
  sport, and they will cherish their memories of this outstanding
  accomplishment for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Paducah High School boys'
  400-meter relay team on winning the UIL 1A Division 2 state
  championship and setting a new state record and extend to the
  runners and to Coach Billy Hutchinson sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
