R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Mayor's Top 100 Teens program in El Paso |
|
recognizes a diverse group of high school students each year in an |
|
effort to promote positive images of teens and to create a community |
|
that values them; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those teens selected for the initiative have |
|
demonstrated scholastic achievement and a commitment to their |
|
education, and they have overcome significant obstacles in their |
|
lives; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through her participation in the 2012-2013 Mayor's |
|
Top 100 Teens program, Baleria Alvarado has engaged in such |
|
positive activities as helping to prepare meals for community |
|
shelters and volunteering for various nonprofit organizations; she |
|
has also been involved in a number of community parades and |
|
celebrations and has given back to area citizens as part of Global |
|
Youth Service Day; in addition, she has worked to raise awareness of |
|
traffic safety and driving risks as a leader in the Teens in the |
|
Driver Seat program; and |
|
WHEREAS, Baleria Alvarado has distinguished herself as an |
|
outstanding role model for her peers, and she is a source of pride |
|
to her family, school, and hometown; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Baleria Alvarado for her contributions as |
|
a participant in the 2012-2013 Mayor's Top 100 Teens program and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Alvarado as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
