R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, The Mayor's Top 100 Teens program in El Paso |
|
|
recognizes a diverse group of high school students each year in an |
|
|
effort to promote positive images of teens and to create a community |
|
|
that values them; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Those teens selected for the initiative have |
|
|
demonstrated scholastic achievement and a commitment to their |
|
|
education, and they have overcome significant obstacles in their |
|
|
lives; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through his participation in the 2012-2013 Mayor's |
|
|
Top 100 Teens program, Robert Gomez has engaged in such positive |
|
|
activities as helping to prepare meals for community shelters and |
|
|
volunteering for various nonprofit organizations; he has also been |
|
|
involved in a number of community parades and celebrations and has |
|
|
given back to area citizens as part of Global Youth Service Day; in |
|
|
addition, he has worked to raise awareness of traffic safety and |
|
|
driving risks as a leader in the Teens in the Driver Seat program; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Robert Gomez has distinguished himself as an |
|
|
outstanding role model for his peers, and he is a source of pride to |
|
|
his family, school, and hometown; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Robert Gomez for his contributions as a |
|
|
participant in the 2012-2013 Mayor's Top 100 Teens program and |
|
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Gomez as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
