R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Erik Camacho, Joseph Fresquez, Marshall Holcombe, |
|
|
and Hilario Soto of Horizon High School in El Paso qualified for the |
|
|
2013 University Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These accomplished members of the Scorpions track |
|
|
team earned their trip to the state competition with their |
|
|
performance in the 4 x 400-meter relay at the 4A Region I |
|
|
competition on April 26 and 27 in Abilene; the Horizon runners |
|
|
finished in second place with a time of 3 minutes, 19.55 seconds; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, On May 11, the relay squad took its place alongside |
|
|
the other top athletes in Texas at the state meet in Austin and made |
|
|
a strong showing, finishing in fifth place; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the guidance of Coach Minnie Brooks, these |
|
|
talented young men have distinguished themselves as competitors of |
|
|
exceptional ability and dedication, and they may take justifiable |
|
|
pride in their achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Horizon High School boys' 4 x |
|
|
400-meter relay team on qualifying for the 2013 UIL Track & Field |
|
|
State Meet and extend to its members sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
