R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Joel Zapata has been participating in the 2013
  Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during the 83rd
  Legislative Session, he has ably served his fellow Texans; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative
  Leadership Foundation, this program offers outstanding university
  students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time
  policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American
  Legislative Caucus and to gain experience working with the Texas
  Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Zapata is a graduate of The University of Texas
  at El Paso; while earning his degree in history and anthropology, he
  helped to re-establish the school's chapter of the Movimiento
  Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan; active on campus and in the
  community, he has worked with a number of other organizations and
  plans to continue his studies, particularly focusing on labor
  issues and immigration; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol,
  Joel Zapata has rendered valuable assistance, while acquiring
  knowledge of issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; he has
  performed his duties as a legislative aide with skill,
  perseverance, and dedication, and he may indeed look forward to a
  rewarding future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Joel Zapata as a participant in the 2013
  Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend him for
  his notable contributions to the legislative process; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Zapata as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
