R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
  of Dr. Henry Earl Kilgore, Jr., of Kerrville, who passed away on
  February 14, 2013, at the age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, A native Texan, Earl Kilgore was born in Kerrville
  on November 13, 1930; he attended Tivy High School and the Schreiner
  Institute, and he was a student at The University of Texas at Austin
  when he interrupted his education to join the U.S. Navy and serve
  his nation in the Korean War; he returned to UT to earn his
  bachelor's degree and later graduated from The University of Texas
  Southwestern Medical School; and
         WHEREAS, Following his residency at Parkland Memorial
  Hospital in Dallas, Dr. Kilgore established a general surgery
  practice in Kerrville in 1968, which he operated for 25 years before
  joining the staff of the Kerrville VA Medical Center; admired and
  respected by his peers, he also served as chief of staff and chief
  of surgery at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital, supported the
  Kerr-Bandera County Medical Society as secretary-treasurer and
  president, and was a member of the Parkland Surgical Society, the
  American Medical Association, and the Texas Medical Association;
  and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Kilgore married the former Virginia Crawford in
  1955, and over the years, their family grew to include 5 children
  and 11 grandchildren; Dr. Kilgore was an attentive and caring
  father who delighted his youngsters with his sense of humor, taught
  them how to fish and fly kites, and nurtured them through illness;
  he was particularly fond of driving trips, and together with his
  loved ones enjoyed many memorable beach vacations and other travel
  adventures; his zest for life and his determination to succeed
  instilled in his children an enthusiasm for new experiences and an
  appreciation for the value of hard work; and
         WHEREAS, Through everything, Dr. Kilgore found peace and
  shared it with his loved ones; while it is impossible to gauge the
  full effect of a man's life, Earl Kilgore left an unmistakable mark
  on the world as he moved through it, and his contributions to his
  family and to his profession will long resonate in the lives of all
  those who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dr. Henry Earl
  Kilgore, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Virginia Kilgore; to his children, Stan
  Kilgore and his wife, Kathy, Karen Freeman and her husband, Howard,
  Sandra Adkins and her husband, Brian, Terri Hay and her husband,
  Daryl, and Lynette Kilgore; to his grandchildren, William and
  Kristen Kilgore, Carter, Bennett, and Teak Freeman, Tia, Preston,
  and Trey Adkins, and Martin, Spencer, and Stuart Hay; and to his
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Henry
  Earl Kilgore, Jr.
