R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity Kappa Kamp, a summer
  enrichment program that provides students with an opportunity to
  acquire valuable life skills, is being held on the campus of Paul
  Quinn College in Dallas from June 9 to 21, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1911, Kappa Alpha Psi now numbers more
  than 800 collegiate and alumni chapters throughout the country;
  this notable organization seeks to promote the spiritual, social,
  intellectual, and moral welfare of its members and to enlighten the
  leaders of today and tomorrow about issues relevant to the African
  American community; in sponsoring Kappa Kamp with Paul Quinn
  College, a historically black, faith-based institution, the
  fraternity is extending the reach of its influence and offering a
  rich cultural and educational experience to youth from across the
  United States; and
         WHEREAS, Created for students age 12 through 16, Kappa Kamp
  provides a series of intensive workshops and structured activities
  designed to enhance reading, writing, and speaking skills and
  expand students' horizons; campers take part in field trips, listen
  to lectures, and engage in exercises focused on science and
  technology; the camp also features recreational activities that
  promote character development, encourage good citizenship, and
  illuminate the potential for individual greatness through higher
  education; and
         WHEREAS, The Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity equips young people
  with many of the tools necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing
  world, and through its Kappa Kamp, it is helping younger students to
  build a solid foundation for future achievement; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Kappa Alpha Psi and Paul Quinn College
  for hosting the Kappa Kamp summer enrichment program and extend to
  all those associated with the event sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
  for Kappa Alpha Psi and Paul Quinn College as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
