R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, For 154 years, Sampson Masonic Lodge No. 231 in |
|
|
Highlands has played a vital role in the East Harris County |
|
|
community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sampson Lodge is one of the oldest Masonic groups in |
|
|
the Lone Star State; chartered in 1859, it was originally located in |
|
|
Lynchburg and later moved to Crosby before making a permanent home |
|
|
in the Highlands community in 1951; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Carrying forth a proud tradition of service, the |
|
|
group supports a number of worthwhile endeavors throughout the |
|
|
year, including the Highlands Clean Up Day, Jamboree, and Yellow |
|
|
Apron Day benefiting Shriners Hospital for Children--Galveston; |
|
|
members have further given back by constructing wheelchair ramps |
|
|
for residents with disabilities and by providing dinners for |
|
|
families during the holidays; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Masons of Sampson Lodge have long made a |
|
|
positive difference in the lives of their fellow citizens, and it is |
|
|
a pleasure to recognize their outstanding civic contributions; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor the Sampson Masonic Lodge No. 231 for its |
|
|
service to the community and extend to its members sincere best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the lodge as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
