R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, No words can soften the pain of a life cut short, but
  the family and friends of Salina Ann Rios of El Paso may find
  comfort in their memories of this beloved young woman, who passed
  away on April 26, 2013, at the age of 22; and
         WHEREAS, Salina Rios, affectionately known as "Sal," was born
  on September 16, 1990, to Edward and Theresa Rios; adored by her
  older brothers, Jacob and Aaron, she spent much of her childhood
  with them honing her skills on the soccer field; and
         WHEREAS, Also talented academically, Ms. Rios graduated in
  the top 10 percent of her class at Montwood High School and went on
  to attend The University of Texas at Austin, where she was honored
  as the Hispanic Health Professions Organization 2009-2010 Member of
  the Year; she was known for her incomparable kindness and
  compassion, both for her family and for children with disabilities;
  in addition to volunteering with the Texas Autism Project, KidWorks
  Therapy Services, and ColorCancer, she contributed to a number of
  important causes through her participation in benefit runs, and
  before her passing, she established the Head for the Cure Austin
  race in an effort to raise awareness about brain cancer; and
         WHEREAS, Though deeply saddened by her passing, those who
  were fortunate enough to share in the affection and friendship of
  Salina Rios will forever hold her close in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Salina Ann Rios and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  parents, Edward and Theresa Rios; to her brothers, Jacob Rios and
  his wife, Allegra, and Aaron Rios and his wife, Tammy; to her
  nieces, Tatum, Liliana, Miranda, and Mariana; to her nephews, Tosh
  and Chris; to her grandparents, Lilia Rios, Irma Lerma, and Arturo
  Lerma, Sr., and Chole Lerma; and to her other relatives and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Salina Ann
  Rios.
