R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Akeyla Mitchell of West Oso High School in Corpus
  Christi achieved great distinction by winning two state
  championships at the University Interscholastic League Track &
  Field State Meet on May 11, 2013, in Austin; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Mitchell, a junior, captured her first gold
  medal of the meet in the 3A 100-meter dash with a time of 11.57
  seconds, which marked her third consecutive state crown in that
  event; and
         WHEREAS, Later that day, she added to her impressive
  collection of state titles by recording a time of 23.34 seconds to
  win the 200-meter dash by a full second; and
         WHEREAS, With her hard work and unwavering commitment to
  excellence, this supremely talented student-athlete is a source of
  tremendous pride to her family and school, and she is poised for
  further success as she looks ahead to her senior season; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Akeyla Mitchell on winning state
  championships in the girls' 3A 100-meter and 200-meter dash
  competitions and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Mitchell as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
