R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Rosbel Pena has been named the 2012-2013 Secondary |
|
|
Teacher of the Year by the Mission Consolidated Independent School |
|
|
District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Mexican immigrants, Mr. Pena spent the |
|
|
summers of his youth working in the fields alongside his family; his |
|
|
parents taught him the importance of education, recognizing it as a |
|
|
means to build a better life; while studying at The University of |
|
|
Texas--Pan American, he was invited to tutor migrant students at |
|
|
Lamar Middle School in McAllen, and this powerful experience |
|
|
inspired him to become an educator; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Pena joined the Mission CISD faculty in 1992; |
|
|
currently a sixth grade math teacher at Alton Memorial Junior High |
|
|
School, he remains committed to ensuring the success of every child |
|
|
he teaches, and he seeks to empower his students to realize their |
|
|
potential and to fulfill their dreams; outside of the classroom, he |
|
|
helps coach the football and track and field teams, oversees the |
|
|
Destination Imagination and calculator application competitors, |
|
|
and writes mathematics curriculum for the district; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Educators play a vital role in fostering the |
|
|
ability, intellect, and self-confidence of children during their |
|
|
formative years, and Rosbel Pena has helped many young Texans to |
|
|
develop a love of learning that will serve them well throughout |
|
|
their lives; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Rosbel Pena on being named the |
|
|
2012-2013 Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Mission Consolidated |
|
|
Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes |
|
|
for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Pena as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
