R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Oscar Faye Branch Williams has been honored as a |
|
recipient of the Gold Blazer Award by her alma mater, Texas A&M |
|
University--Commerce, for her contributions to the school and to |
|
her community; and |
|
WHEREAS, A member of the Class of 1973, Ms. Williams earned a |
|
bachelor's degree in biology and sociology from Texas A&M |
|
University--Commerce; after taking a job as a laboratory technician |
|
at Parkland Memorial Hospital, she transitioned to the field of |
|
zoning and code enforcement for the City of Dallas, serving the |
|
public in that arena for 25 years and being named assistant director |
|
of the city's code compliance department; she now trains code |
|
enforcement professionals throughout Texas as a senior training |
|
specialist with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Williams is a lively and outgoing individual who |
|
gives to others by serving as a member of the Delta Sigma Theta |
|
sorority and the alumni relations board of Texas A&M |
|
University--Commerce; in addition, she has helped to establish |
|
scholarships for students at the institution; and |
|
WHEREAS, Oscar Faye Williams has demonstrated a deep and |
|
lasting commitment to her alma mater, and she is truly deserving of |
|
recognition for her years of dedication; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Oscar Faye Branch Williams on her |
|
receipt of the Gold Blazer Award from Texas A&M |
|
University--Commerce and extend to her sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Williams as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
