R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at
  the loss of Victor Lynn Lovelady of Nederland, who died on January
  19, 2013, at the age of 57; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Lovelady had just taken a new job with British
  Petroleum in Algeria when the facility where he worked was attacked
  by a terrorist group on January 16, 2013; several days after they
  were taken hostage, Mr. Lovelady and two other innocent Americans
  lost their lives to the terrorists; and
         WHEREAS, Victor Lovelady was born in Nederland on July 31,
  1955, to Dewey and Laura Green Lovelady; after graduating from
  Nederland High School in 1973, he followed his father into the
  electrician's trade, earning certification as a master electrician
  at Electrical Apprenticeship School; he went on to earn an
  associate's degree in industrial electricity and electronics and a
  bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Lamar University;
  for most of his career, he worked for ENGlobal, serving as a project
  manager for 18 years; and
         WHEREAS, In 1979, Mr. Lovelady was joined in matrimony to the
  love of his life, Maureen, and together they were blessed with two
  children, Erin and Grant; in all their years together, this loving
  man put his wife and children at the center of his life, and he
  especially delighted in the time they spent fishing, camping, and
  going to the beach, where Mr. Lovelady spent so much time in the
  surf that he earned the affectionate nickname "The Fish"; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Victor Lovelady lived his life
  to the fullest, and although he was taken far too soon, the
  compassion and generosity with which he lived will forever inspire
  those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Victor Lynn
  Lovelady and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Maureen Lovelady; to his daughter, Erin
  Lovelady; to his son, Grant Lovelady; to his brother, Mike
  Lovelady, his wife, Wanda, and their children, Kevin, Jason, and
  Ashley; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family, and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Victor
  Lovelady.
