R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Sally Bird is retiring as president and CEO of the
  Greenville Chamber of Commerce/Convention & Visitors Bureau on June
  14, 2013, drawing to a close a notable career as a chamber
  professional that has spanned nearly three decades; and
         WHEREAS, Since joining the Greenville Chamber in June 2005,
  Mrs. Bird has worked tirelessly to make the city an even better
  place in which to live and work; she was instrumental in such new
  initiatives as the Business Expo, the Economic Forecast Breakfast,
  the Wake Up to the Issues series, and Rally 'Round Greenville; this
  dedicated executive also helped the organization to expand the
  Leadership Hunt County program and to establish the Leadership
  Alumni Association, and her astute guidance allowed the chamber to
  continue to thrive during a challenging economic period; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Bird has drawn on a broad range of experience;
  after growing up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and Bradenton,
  Florida, she earned a bachelor's degree from Millersville
  University and worked as a teacher and a community relations
  specialist in Pennsylvania; in 1985, she began a 12-year tenure
  with the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry, distinguishing
  herself in several different positions, and she went on to serve as
  president of the Berwick Area Chamber of Commerce and as vice
  president of the Main Line Chamber of Commerce before relocating to
  Greenville; active in numerous professional and business
  associations, she has garnered awards from the American Chamber of
  Commerce Executives and from Women in Communications; and
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, she enjoys the love and
  support of her husband, Craig, and the couple plan to remain deeply
  involved in the local community in the years ahead; and
         WHEREAS, Sally Bird has served the citizens and businesses of
  Greenville with remarkable ability and commitment, and she may
  indeed reflect with pride on her notable record of achievement as
  she begins the next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, hereby congratulate Sally Bird on her retirement as
  president and CEO of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce/Convention &
  Visitors Bureau and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Bird as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
