R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, During the 83rd Legislative Session, Elizabeth
  Deiandria Smith has ably served her fellow Texans as an intern in
  the office of State Representative Alma Allen; and
         WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Smith has contributed
  to the workings of state government firsthand; in addition to
  learning more about the legislative process and the issues facing
  citizens of the Lone Star State, she has gained valuable work
  experience in the field of public service; she was responsible for
  conducting legislative research, tracking bills, and communicating
  with constituents; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Leon and Delores Smith of Grambling,
  Louisiana, Ms. Smith is a third-year law student at the Thurgood
  Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University; she also holds
  a bachelor's degree in biology from Grambling State University and
  a master's degree in education leadership and administration from
  Prairie View A&M University; active in her campus community, she is
  a member of the Phi Alpha Delta legal honor society, the Public
  Interest Law Association, and the Baylor Academy of the Advocate at
  St. Andrews; in addition, she has served as a judicial intern with
  the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals; and
         WHEREAS, This noteworthy young Texan has performed her duties
  as a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed
  deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Elizabeth Deiandria Smith for her
  service as a legislative intern in the office of State
  Representative Alma Allen and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success in all her future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Smith as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
