R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, April 28, 2013, marked a significant milestone in
  the life of J. D. Coleman, for on that day he celebrated his 85th
  birthday; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Daley Coleman and Gertrude Casmere,
  J. D. Coleman was born in Dallas in 1928; following his graduation
  from Lincoln High School in 1946, he attended Wiley College, and he
  also served his country in the U.S. military; his notable career
  included tenures with the Dallas Independent School District, the
  Old Mill Inn, and American Airlines, where he was employed for more
  than two decades and became the first African American ramp
  supervisor; today, he remains active as a school crossing guard;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Coleman has been married to his loving wife,
  Willie Mae Coleman, since 1996, and he is the father of six
  children, Raysonia, Julia, Arlean, Iba, Keith, and the late Dwight
  Coleman; passionate about the history of his culture and his
  hometown, he gives back to his fellow residents through his work as
  a youth tutor and mentor; he is also active in St. Luke "Community"
  United Methodist Church and the Lincoln--Booker T. Washington High
  School Alumni Association; and
         WHEREAS, J. D. Coleman is a blessing to his friends and loved
  ones, and it is a pleasure to recognize him for eight and a half
  decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate J. D. Coleman on his 85th birthday
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Coleman as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
