R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
|
of Alice Leona Argo Minatre of Victoria, who passed away on May 14, |
|
|
2013, at the age of 88; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native Texan, the former Alice Argo was born in |
|
|
Wood Hi on November 23, 1924, to John and Nina Argo, as part of a |
|
|
family that also included four sisters and a twin brother; she was |
|
|
educated at Casa Blanca School and Wood Hi School, and following a |
|
|
courtship that involved many horseback rides with a handsome cowboy |
|
|
who worked cattle in nearby pastures, she married Noel "Slim" |
|
|
Minatre on December 17, 1943; devoted to one another, Mr. and |
|
|
Mrs. Minatre were inseparable until his passing in 1984; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Minatre worked as a cook in the cafeterias at |
|
|
Wood Hi School and at the Alcoa plant in Point Comfort, where she |
|
|
earned a reputation for her exceptional culinary skills; outside of |
|
|
work, she delighted in entertaining friends and loved ones with |
|
|
delicious dishes she made with ingredients from her backyard |
|
|
garden; her home was a favorite summertime destination for her |
|
|
grandchildren, and they always looked forward to spending time with |
|
|
their beloved "Grandma Tree"; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in the life of |
|
|
Alice Minatre will always remember her with great tenderness and |
|
|
affection; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Alice Leona Argo |
|
|
Minatre and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to |
|
|
her daughter, Connie Filley, and her husband, George; to her |
|
|
daughter-in-law, Teresa Minatre; to her granddaughters, Constance |
|
|
Johnson, Nicole Trudeau, Persephone Mikulec, Kelly Hess, and Dina |
|
|
Hardwick; to her grandson, George Filley; to her 11 |
|
|
great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alice |
|
|
Minatre. |
