R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Marcus Irons and Troy Allison of McGregor High
  School distinguished themselves by qualifying for the 2013
  University Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet; and
         WHEREAS, The two competitors achieved that season-long goal
  as a result of their outstanding performances at the 2A Region II
  meet, held at Tarleton State University in Stephenville on April 26
  and 27; and
         WHEREAS, Competing in the triple jump, Mr. Irons made a leap
  of 44 feet, 8.75 inches, and his second-place finish earned him the
  opportunity to advance to state in that event; he also took part in
  the high jump at regionals and tied for ninth by clearing 5 feet, 10
  inches; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Allison punched his ticket to Austin by taking
  second place in the regional high jump event, reaching a height of 6
  feet, 6 inches; in the triple jump, he placed eighth with a distance
  of 42 feet, 5 inches; and
         WHEREAS, Under the guidance of coach Todd McCauley, these
  talented student-athletes have demonstrated great dedication and a
  steadfast commitment to excellence, and they may indeed take
  justifiable pride in their notable accomplishments; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Marcus Irons and Troy Allison on
  qualifying for the 2013 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to
  them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Irons and Mr. Allison as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
