R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Sabrina Little of Waco proved herself one of the
  world's top ultrarunning competitors by finishing second in the
  women's category in the International Association of Ultrarunners
  24-Hour World Championships, which took place in the Netherlands on
  May 11 and 12, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, The demanding sport of ultrarunning includes events
  that are longer than the 26.2 miles of the standard marathon; for
  the race in the Netherlands, the athletes sought to cover as much
  distance as possible in the span of 24 hours, and Ms. Little ran
  244.669 kilometers--just over 152 miles--to claim the silver medal;
  moreover, she was part of Team USA, which placed first in the team
  event; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Little has been involved in distance running
  since taking part in her first marathon at the age of eight, and she
  was a member of the cross-country and track teams at the College of
  William and Mary; she has been an ultrarunner since her sophomore
  year of college, when she ran 100 miles in a charity fund-raising
  event, and she has covered as much as 180 miles in a single
  competition; her intense endurance training involves two to three
  runs per day; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Little teaches physics and English at Live Oak
  Classical School in Waco and also coaches the school's
  long-distance runners; in all of her endeavors, she enjoys the love
  and support of her husband, David Little; and
         WHEREAS, An inspiring athlete who embraces challenges far
  beyond the ordinary, Sabrina Little is a model of discipline and
  initiative, and she may indeed take great pride in this notable
  achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Sabrina Little on earning the silver medal
  at the 2013 International Association of Ultrarunners 24-Hour World
  Championships and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Little as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
