R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The graduating senior class at Baylor University has
  named accounting professor Tim Thomasson the 2013 Collins
  Outstanding Professor; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Thomasson is a clinical professor in accounting
  and business law in Baylor's Hankamer School of Business; an
  alumnus of the university, where he earned his bachelor's degree in
  accounting and his master's degree in taxation, Mr. Thomasson began
  his career as a tax manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP; he
  later worked at Close and Associates and at the Noble Corporation
  before establishing his own public accounting firm, Tim Thomasson
  and Shannon Thomasson, PC, in 2005; he has been a certified public
  accountant since 1993; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed educator joined the Baylor faculty in
  2009, and he currently serves on the Hankamer School's graduate
  admissions committee and as an undergraduate accounting advisor; he
  has authored articles in industry publications, including the
  Journal of Accounting Education and the Journal of Accountancy, and
  he is a member of the American Accounting Association, the American
  Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Texas Society of
  Certified Public Accountants; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Thomasson's recognition as the Collins
  Outstanding Professor demonstrates the meaningful impact he has had
  on his students, and the award provides a $10,000 stipend as well as
  the opportunity to give a special lecture on a subject of his
  choosing; on April 30, 2013, Mr. Thomasson delivered his address,
  "How Do You Give Back to the Kingdom?," which concerned the lessons
  learned by one company resulting from a direct question from
  faith-based investors; and
         WHEREAS, An exceptional teacher, Tim Thomasson challenges
  his students to live up to their full potential, and he is indeed
  deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Tim Thomasson on being named the
  2013 Collins Outstanding Professor by the Baylor University
  graduating class of 2013 and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Thomasson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
