R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer John A. Allen of the Nacogdoches Police |
|
|
Department received a 2012 State of Texas Law Enforcement |
|
|
Achievement Award for Valor from the Texas Commission on Law |
|
|
Enforcement Officer Standards and Education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While searching a residential area for a shoplifter, |
|
|
Officer Allen discovered that the suspect's car had crashed into a |
|
|
tree; the severely injured man was pinned behind the steering wheel |
|
|
inside the vehicle, which was in flames; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The front seat of the automobile was filling with |
|
|
smoke, but Officer Allen, with the assistance of a volunteer |
|
|
firefighter, climbed into the back of the burning car and pulled the |
|
|
driver over the seat and out of the vehicle to safety; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer Allen's courage and willingness to place |
|
|
himself in harm's way to rescue a man from certain death truly |
|
|
exemplify the highest ideals of the law enforcement profession; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Officer John A. Allen for receiving |
|
|
a 2012 State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Award for Valor |
|
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his |
|
|
important work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Officer Allen as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
