R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Damon and Nicole Brown have been honored with the
  2013 Platinum Award from the Dickinson Police Department, in
  recognition of their tireless work in behalf of their community;
  and
         WHEREAS, The award, presented by DPD with the assistance of
  business leaders from Dickinson and Galveston, pays tribute to top
  volunteers in the Dickinson Citizens Police Academy Alumni
  Association who donate more than 250 hours of their time to benefit
  the department's programs; and
         WHEREAS, Graduates of the Dickinson Citizens Police Academy,
  Damon and Nicole Brown have participated in Citizens on Patrol and
  worked with the crime victims liaison to collect stuffed animals
  and prepare materials for victims of trauma; in addition, Mr. and
  Mrs. Brown have assisted the Community Policing and Crime
  Prevention Division by serving as parking assistants and equipment
  managers, and they have supported the DPD at local events,
  including manning checkpoints at the Red, White, and Bayou Festival
  and distributing materials at the Strawberry Festival; the couple,
  who operate Brown Construction, have also included their sons,
  Clint, Zachery, Nicholas, and Austin, in their volunteerism, and
  the family often helps out at events together; and
         WHEREAS, Through their exceptional dedication and
  generosity, Damon and Nicole Brown have made a positive difference
  in the lives of many Dickinson area residents, and this honor
  reflects the significance of their contributions; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Damon and Nicole Brown on their
  receipt of the 2013 Platinum Award from the Dickinson Police
  Department and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
  success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Brown as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
