H.R. No. 2800
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Dr. David Murley of Winnsboro retired in March 2013,
  drawing to a close an exceptional career in medicine that spanned
  more than half a century; and
         WHEREAS, The son of schoolteachers, David Murley was raised
  in West Texas and graduated from medical school at the University of
  Tennessee in Memphis; he and his brother, Warren, opened their
  practice in Winnsboro in 1961; as a young physician, Dr. Murley
  delivered hundreds of babies, and although his days were always
  busy, he never hesitated to answer the numerous emergency calls
  that came in the middle of the night; he continued to serve his many
  patients with enormous dedication through the years, and in 2009,
  he was honored by his alma mater as the only member of the class of
  1959 still practicing medicine; and
         WHEREAS, Benefiting the wider community, Dr. Murley served on
  the airport and school boards alongside his brother, and in 1985,
  they were named Men of the Year by the Winnsboro Area Chamber of
  Commerce; this multifaceted Texan also found time to maintain his
  licenses as a pilot and aircraft technician, and he owned a shop at
  the airport; in addition, he demonstrated a knack for automotive
  repair by keeping a vintage Mercedes on the road; in all his
  endeavors, he has enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Lou, and
  their four sons; and
         WHEREAS, The residents of Winnsboro are indeed fortunate to
  have been served for so long by such a skillful and compassionate
  physician, and as Dr. Murley begins the next exciting chapter of his
  life, he may indeed reflect with pride on his many contributions;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. David Murley on his retirement
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Murley as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
