R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Kivani Ailene Sanchez of Veterans Memorial High |
|
School in Mission has been named a Youth of the Year in the Head of |
|
the Class Program overseen by the Rio Grande Valley Sector of the |
|
U.S. Border Patrol; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Head of the Class Program recognizes outstanding |
|
seniors at 57 high schools in the Rio Grande Valley every month; |
|
just three students are chosen as Youths of the Year annually; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Jose and Leticia Sanchez, Ms. |
|
Sanchez has demonstrated exceptional initiative throughout her |
|
high school career; an AP Scholar and president of the National |
|
Honor Society, she is currently ranked first in her graduating |
|
class; she also serves as vice president of Health Occupations |
|
Students of America and volunteers every week at the Palm Valley |
|
Animal Center; in addition, she has distinguished herself through |
|
her participation in choir and the swim team, through which she won |
|
a district championship; after graduation, she plans on attending |
|
college to study chemical engineering and biomedical sciences; and |
|
WHEREAS, Kivani Sanchez can reflect with pride on her |
|
academic record, extracurricular achievements, and contributions |
|
to her community, and she may indeed look with anticipation toward a |
|
promising future; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Kivani Ailene Sanchez on her |
|
selection as a 2013 Youth of the Year by the U.S. Border Patrol and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Sanchez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
