R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Kivani Ailene Sanchez of Veterans Memorial High
  School in Mission has been named a Youth of the Year in the Head of
  the Class Program overseen by the Rio Grande Valley Sector of the
  U.S. Border Patrol; and
         WHEREAS, The Head of the Class Program recognizes outstanding
  seniors at 57 high schools in the Rio Grande Valley every month;
  just three students are chosen as Youths of the Year annually; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Jose and Leticia Sanchez, Ms.
  Sanchez has demonstrated exceptional initiative throughout her
  high school career; an AP Scholar and president of the National
  Honor Society, she is currently ranked first in her graduating
  class; she also serves as vice president of Health Occupations
  Students of America and volunteers every week at the Palm Valley
  Animal Center; in addition, she has distinguished herself through
  her participation in choir and the swim team, through which she won
  a district championship; after graduation, she plans on attending
  college to study chemical engineering and biomedical sciences; and
         WHEREAS, Kivani Sanchez can reflect with pride on her
  academic record, extracurricular achievements, and contributions
  to her community, and she may indeed look with anticipation toward a
  promising future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Kivani Ailene Sanchez on her
  selection as a 2013 Youth of the Year by the U.S. Border Patrol and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Sanchez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
