R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Jessica Aquino of Laredo marked a significant |
|
|
milestone in her life on May 11, 2013, when she graduated from Texas |
|
|
A&M University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Jessica |
|
|
Aquino is the daughter of Susana and Antonio Aquino; she attended |
|
|
United High School in Laredo, participating in track, |
|
|
cross-country, and soccer and taking part in several science fairs, |
|
|
including national and international events in San Jose, |
|
|
California, and Portland, Oregon; she was named a regional grand |
|
|
champion at both and also was chosen for the Texas High School |
|
|
Aerospace Scholars program; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Her achievements in science and her exceptional |
|
|
grades earned Ms. Aquino a spot among the top 10 students in her |
|
|
class and a Gates Millennium scholarship; this prestigious honor |
|
|
covered her tuition all the way through her graduation from Texas |
|
|
A&M University, where she has received a bachelor's degree in |
|
|
architecture and a master's degree in engineering; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jessica Aquino is a source of great pride to her |
|
|
family and community, and she may indeed reflect on her academic |
|
|
career with a sense of accomplishment and look forward to a future |
|
|
bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jessica Aquino on her graduation |
|
|
from Texas A&M University and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Aquino as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
