R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
|
passing of Richard Ned Byrd of Paris, Texas, on May 2, 2013, at the |
|
|
age of 70; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of the Lone Star State, Richard Byrd was |
|
|
born to Rudolph Lynn and Harvey Sue Byrd in Palestine on December |
|
|
19, 1942; he went on to establish a successful career as an |
|
|
educator, and he retired from North Lamar High School after |
|
|
teaching history and government at the campus for more than 20 |
|
|
years; he was an active church member, and in his spare time he |
|
|
enjoyed playing the piano; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Byrd shared a rewarding marriage with his wife, |
|
|
Gail, and he was blessed with a daughter, Katie, whose dedicated |
|
|
service on the Little Elm City Council was a special source of pride |
|
|
for her father; through the years, Mr. Byrd had the pleasure of |
|
|
seeing his family grow to include five grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Richard Byrd treasured the time he spent in the |
|
|
company of his family and friends, and those he leaves behind will |
|
|
in turn cherish their memories of this kind and caring man; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Richard Ned Byrd and |
|
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
|
Gail Byrd; to his daughter, Katie Byrd Gipson; to his brother, Ron |
|
|
Byrd; to his grandchildren, Lauren, Joe, Jack, Zachary, and Abigail |
|
|
Gipson; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family, and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Richard |
|
|
Byrd. |
