R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Richard Ned Byrd of Paris, Texas, on May 2, 2013, at the
  age of 70; and
         WHEREAS, A native of the Lone Star State, Richard Byrd was
  born to Rudolph Lynn and Harvey Sue Byrd in Palestine on December
  19, 1942; he went on to establish a successful career as an
  educator, and he retired from North Lamar High School after
  teaching history and government at the campus for more than 20
  years; he was an active church member, and in his spare time he
  enjoyed playing the piano; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Byrd shared a rewarding marriage with his wife,
  Gail, and he was blessed with a daughter, Katie, whose dedicated
  service on the Little Elm City Council was a special source of pride
  for her father; through the years, Mr. Byrd had the pleasure of
  seeing his family grow to include five grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Richard Byrd treasured the time he spent in the
  company of his family and friends, and those he leaves behind will
  in turn cherish their memories of this kind and caring man; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Richard Ned Byrd and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Gail Byrd; to his daughter, Katie Byrd Gipson; to his brother, Ron
  Byrd; to his grandchildren, Lauren, Joe, Jack, Zachary, and Abigail
  Gipson; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family, and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Richard
  Byrd.
