R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Panhandle High School yearbook staff |
|
|
participated in the 2013 It's Your History Contest, sponsored by |
|
|
the Friends of the Governor's Mansion, and the group visited the |
|
|
State Capitol on April 1, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Open to high school students throughout the state, |
|
|
the contest encourages participants to learn more about Texas |
|
|
heritage by researching a topic of local history and creating a |
|
|
dynamic presentation on their findings; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the direction of teacher Mika Sloan, PHS |
|
|
yearbook staff members Michaela Roberts, Mary Cate Neeley, Jodie |
|
|
Detten, Hannah Stamps, Meghan Ray, and Kendra Reining all entered |
|
|
this year's competition, and in so doing, they gained an increased |
|
|
awareness of their shared community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Demonstrating initiative and enthusiasm, these |
|
|
notable young Texans learned new and interesting facts about the |
|
|
place they call home while honing a range of skills that will serve |
|
|
them well in the years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor the Panhandle High School yearbook staff |
|
|
on its participation in the Friends of the Governor's Mansion It's |
|
|
Your History Contest and extend to them sincere best wishes for the |
|
|
future. |
