R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Panhandle High School yearbook staff
  participated in the 2013 It's Your History Contest, sponsored by
  the Friends of the Governor's Mansion, and the group visited the
  State Capitol on April 1, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Open to high school students throughout the state,
  the contest encourages participants to learn more about Texas
  heritage by researching a topic of local history and creating a
  dynamic presentation on their findings; and
         WHEREAS, Under the direction of teacher Mika Sloan, PHS
  yearbook staff members Michaela Roberts, Mary Cate Neeley, Jodie
  Detten, Hannah Stamps, Meghan Ray, and Kendra Reining all entered
  this year's competition, and in so doing, they gained an increased
  awareness of their shared community; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating initiative and enthusiasm, these
  notable young Texans learned new and interesting facts about the
  place they call home while honing a range of skills that will serve
  them well in the years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Panhandle High School yearbook staff
  on its participation in the Friends of the Governor's Mansion It's
  Your History Contest and extend to them sincere best wishes for the
  future.
