R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The boys' and girls' track teams of Midland
  Christian School both captured 4A state titles at the Texas
  Association of Private and Parochial Schools Track and Field State
  Championship, held May 10 and 11, 2013, at Baylor University in
  Waco; and
         WHEREAS, In winning their third consecutive 4A state crown
  and the seventh in school history, the boys' squad was propelled by
  a sweep of all three relay events; Elias Aguirre, Erwin Baquirin,
  Kade Christensen, and Brit Hooper won the 400-meter relay, while
  Mr. Aguirre and Mr. Christensen joined with Jarrod Koym and Brandon
  Nguyen to take gold in the 800-meter relay; Mr. Nguyen and
  Mr. Hooper teamed with Zach Bates and Matt Ramirez for first place
  in the 1,600-meter relay to complete the trifecta; in addition,
  Mr. Aguirre added to his medal collection with another victory in
  the 100-meter dash, posting a career-best time of 10.84 seconds;
  and
         WHEREAS, The Lady Mustangs won their first-ever state
  championship behind a number of outstanding performances; Morgan
  Ashton broke her own school record with a time of 45.5 seconds to
  claim gold in the 300-meter hurdles and also combined with Kendall
  Blanchard, Kayla Dupriest, and Kirsten Defrance to win the
  1,600-meter relay; moreover, Ms. Dupriest and Ms. Defrance teamed
  with Kami Berryhill and Kenzi McGraw to place first in the 800-meter
  relay, and Emma Thompson was victorious in the discus; and
         WHEREAS, Under the inspired leadership of coach Chris
  McKinney, the athletes of the Midland Christian boys' and girls'
  teams have furthered their school's reputation as a track and field
  powerhouse, and their accomplishments are a testament to their hard
  work and enduring commitment to excellence; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Midland Christian School boys'
  and girls' track teams on winning the 2013 TAPPS 4A state
  championships and extend to the athletes, coaches, and staff
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the teams as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
