R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The boys' track team from Grady High School in
  Lenorah reached the pinnacle of success by winning the 2013 1A
  Division 2 state championship at the University Interscholastic
  League Track & Field State Meet, held on May 10 and 11 in Austin; and
         WHEREAS, The Wildcats had an outstanding first day at the
  competition, with Brandon Lucas claiming a bronze medal in the long
  jump and joining teammates Beau Lucas, Michael Jimenez, and
  E. J. Rodriguez to capture the gold medal in the 800-meter relay
  and the silver medal in the 400-meter relay; and
         WHEREAS, Entering the meet's final event, the 1,600-meter
  relay, the Wildcats trailed Throckmorton High by six points and
  needed at least a fourth-place finish to win the team title; far
  exceeding that benchmark, the team of Joseph Briseno, Beau and
  Brandon Lucas, and Mr. Jimenez took the lead early in the race and
  went on to win the gold medal, thereby securing the first boys' team
  state championship in school history by a comfortable margin of 14
  points; and
         WHEREAS, The talented student-athletes of the Grady High
  track team have excelled through skill, hard work, and an enduring
  commitment to excellence, and they are a source of tremendous pride
  to their classmates and their many supporters in the local
  community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Grady High School boys' track
  team on winning the 2013 UIL 1A Division 2 state championship and
  extend to the team's athletes and coaching staff sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
