R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Victor Alonzo of Leo Marcell Elementary School in
  Mission received fitting recognition when he was named Elementary
  Teacher of the Year by the Mission Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Mission ISD, Mr. Alonzo earned his
  degree from The University of Texas-Pan American in 1994 and two
  years later joined the staff of Marcell Elementary School, where he
  currently teaches second grade mathematics and science; during his
  career as an educator, his tireless work in behalf of students and
  teachers has included participation with the Save Our Schools
  coalition as well as service as a representative on the District
  Educational Improvement Council and as a Region I delegate and
  faculty representative in the Texas Classroom Teachers
  Association; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Alonzo has further distinguished himself by
  completing the Mission District's Leadership Academy and mentoring
  Mission High School students through the Future Teachers program;
  and
         WHEREAS, Serving as role models, motivators, listeners, and
  mentors, the best educators bring to the classroom creativity,
  energy, and resourcefulness; Victor Alonzo is one such teacher,
  inspiring in his students a love of learning that will serve them
  well throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Victor Alonzo on his selection as
  the 2013 Mission ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued success with his important
  work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Alonzo as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
