R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Alexandra Rosales, a member of the McClendon
  Scholars Program, has provided valuable support as a legislative
  intern in the office of State Representative Borris L. Miles during
  the 83rd Texas Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Created in 2004, the McClendon Scholars Program,
  which is also known as The University of Texas at San Antonio
  Legislative Scholars Program, is a collaborative initiative
  between State Representative Ruth Jones McClendon and the UTSA
  Institute for Law and Public Affairs; the program gives students
  with an interest in public policy the opportunity to work as interns
  at the State Capitol during legislative sessions; and
         WHEREAS, Since joining the office of Representative Miles,
  Ms. Rosales has contributed to the workings of state government
  firsthand; in addition to learning more about the legislative
  process and the issues facing the citizens of the Lone Star State,
  she has gained beneficial work experience in the field of public
  service; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of New Braunfels High School, Ms. Rosales
  is majoring in criminal justice at UTSA with a minor in legal
  studies, and she plans to attend law school after receiving her
  bachelor's degree in December 2013; this dynamic young Texan
  attended the university's Institute for Law and Public Affairs,
  where she earned an award for logical reasoning, and she has been
  named to the dean's list and is a pledging member of Phi Alpha
  Delta, the professional law fraternity; her volunteer activities
  have included work in behalf of Hope Hospice, Goodwill, and a day
  center for adults with developmental disabilities; and
         WHEREAS, Alexandra Rosales has maintained the tradition of
  excellence that is emblematic of McClendon Scholars and has
  performed her duties in the office of Representative Miles with
  skill and dedication; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Alexandra Rosales for her service as a
  McClendon Scholar in the office of State Representative Borris
  L. Miles and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  success in all her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Rosales as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
