R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
  memories of Dolores Lehmann of Dallas, who passed away on May 7,
  2013, at the age of 84; and
         WHEREAS, Dolores Schumacher was born on November 14, 1928, in
  Oak Park, Illinois, to Dorothy and Elmer Schumacher; she studied at
  Morton College and at the University of Illinois at
  Urbana-Champaign before earning her bachelor's degree in
  journalism at the University of Wisconsin--Madison, where she met
  her future husband, Elroy Lehmann, when he was waiting tables in her
  dormitory; they were married in 1951; and
         WHEREAS, The following year, the couple moved to Connecticut,
  where Mr. Lehmann had been hired as an assistant professor at
  Wesleyan University, and over the course of his career as a
  geologist, Mr. and Mrs. Lehmann and their two daughters, Deborah
  and Melissa, lived all over the world, including Pakistan, Libya,
  Egypt, and Argentina; during these sojourns abroad, Mrs. Lehmann
  pursued her interest in ethnic art and culture, acquiring a large
  collection; and
         WHEREAS, During the mid-1960s, while living in Dallas, Mrs.
  Lehmann continued her education at Southern Methodist University,
  earning a bachelor's and a master's degree in education, and she
  went on to work as a special education teacher in Richardson,
  Chappaqua, New York, and Cairo, Egypt; after the couple retired to
  Dallas in 1985, Mrs. Lehmann focused on making art, and her
  metalwork was shown and sold at art shows across the nation; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Lehmann was one of the founders of the
  International Women's Club of Dallas and a former president of
  Bentwood Republican Women; she was also active in the Garden Club of
  the Dallas Geological and Geophysical Women's Auxiliary and at the
  Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she took special delight in
  caring for the plants in the sanctuary; and
         WHEREAS, Dolores Lehmann was a talented, intelligent, and
  caring woman with a deep curiosity about the world around her, and
  though she is no longer with us, she leaves behind a legacy that
  will continue to inspire all those who had the good fortune to know
  her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dolores Lehmann and
  that sincere condolences be extended to the members of her family:
  to her husband of 61 years, Elroy Lehmann; to her daughters, Deborah
  and Melissa; to her grandchildren, Paul, Eleanor, Samantha, Rex,
  Casey, Regan, and Karl; and to her other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dolores
  Lehmann.
