R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. John Sibert of The University of Texas at Dallas |
|
has been inducted into the inaugural class of The University of |
|
Texas System Academy of Distinguished Teachers in 2013; and |
|
WHEREAS, This new academy honors outstanding educators at the |
|
UT System's nine campuses, and the 12 members of the first class |
|
will serve as a systemwide advocacy group to foster classroom |
|
innovation and promote interdisciplinary approaches to education; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, A member of the UT Dallas Department of Chemistry |
|
since 2000, John Sibert earned his bachelor's degree from the |
|
University of South Florida in 1986 and his doctorate from The |
|
University of Texas at Austin in 1991; from 1992 to 1995, he was a |
|
National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern |
|
University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Sibert's research is focused on the study of |
|
molecular architecture and its applications to everything from |
|
medicine to environmental science to advanced new materials; an |
|
inspiring teacher as well as a gifted researcher, he received the UT |
|
System Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award in 2011, and he |
|
coauthored a UT--Dallas campus-wide education plan for mathematics |
|
and science; and |
|
WHEREAS, The students at the Lone Star State's institutions |
|
of higher learning benefit greatly from the expertise and |
|
enthusiasm of dedicated scholars and teachers such as Dr. Sibert, |
|
and he may indeed take great pride in this prestigious recognition |
|
of his many contributions to his profession; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. John Sibert on his induction |
|
into The University of Texas System Academy of Distinguished |
|
Teachers and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success in his important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Sibert as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
