R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Warren Thad Murley, Jr., of Winnsboro, who passed away on |
|
December 18, 2010, at the age of 79; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Warren Thad Murley, Sr., and Olga |
|
Chadwell Murley, Warren Murley was born on February 8, 1931, in |
|
Crane; on July 16, 1955, he married his longtime sweetheart, Loyce |
|
Call, and the couple spent more than 55 years of devoted matrimony |
|
together; his family grew to include three children, Elizabeth, |
|
Laura, and Warren, as well as six grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan graduated from The University of |
|
Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1956; answering his country's |
|
call to duty, he served as a medical intern in the United States Air |
|
Force and was honorably discharged in 1960 after achieving the rank |
|
of captain; he then moved to Winnsboro and opened Murley Clinic with |
|
his brother, David, in 1961; Dr. Murley retired in 2005 after 44 |
|
years of service to the Winnsboro community; active in civic life, |
|
he was at various times in his illustrious career a member of the |
|
Winnsboro City Council, the Winnsboro Independent School District |
|
board of trustees, and Winnsboro's Future and served as a trustee |
|
with the Presbyterian Hospital of Winnsboro; in recognition of his |
|
achievements, he was recognized with the city's Man of the Year |
|
Award; and |
|
WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family and his community, |
|
Warren Murley made a meaningful difference in the lives of his loved |
|
ones and fellow citizens alike, and his contributions will be |
|
fondly remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Warren Thad Murley, |
|
Jr.; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family in honor of this notable Texan. |
