R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Anthony Stephens is retiring from the Liberty Hill |
|
|
Independent School District Board of Trustees in May 2013, |
|
|
concluding more than a decade of service to the community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since winning election in 2001, Mr. Stephens has |
|
|
collaborated with his fellow trustees to enact major policy |
|
|
decisions in behalf of district schools; guided by a strong sense of |
|
|
duty to the youth of Liberty Hill, he has served as president of the |
|
|
board and is highly regarded by his peers both for his calm |
|
|
professionalism and for his well-reasoned judgment; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan has long had a stake in the |
|
|
Liberty Hill education system, having graduated from the district |
|
|
in 1980 and having watched his two children do the same in recent |
|
|
years; while much has changed since his years as a student, his |
|
|
leadership and insight have helped the district nimbly adjust to |
|
|
the area's growth, and he has employed careful consideration in |
|
|
regard to issues that most concern families in challenging economic |
|
|
times; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Stephens attended classes at Texas A&M |
|
|
University for a year before earning an associate's degree in |
|
|
mechanical engineering from Temple Junior College; in addition to |
|
|
his responsibilities on the board and his job as a mail carrier for |
|
|
the U.S. Post Office, he has volunteered as a coach for community |
|
|
league basketball and is currently the assistant director of the |
|
|
Liberty Hill Wildcats select basketball program; in his retirement, |
|
|
he plans to continue to attend school board meetings and to play an |
|
|
active role in the wider community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A dedicated advocate for area students and their |
|
|
families, Anthony Stephens has furthered the mission of Liberty |
|
|
Hill ISD with great skill and passion, and he may take pride in the |
|
|
many meaningful contributions he made during his tenure of service; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Anthony Stephens on his retirement |
|
|
from the Liberty Hill Independent School District Board of Trustees |
|
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Stephens as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
