R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Atzimba Casas, a senior at Socorro High School in El
  Paso, has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer and
  study at The University of Texas at El Paso; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Jose Casas and Maria
  Escudero, Atzimba Casas began playing soccer in the first grade;
  initially a goalkeeper, she moved to defense and midfield as she
  grew older and ultimately became a star forward for the Socorro
  Bulldogs, though she has continued to tend the net for her team
  during shootouts; and
         WHEREAS, Under the direction of head coach Roger Rosales,
  Ms. Casas was a starter on the girls' varsity team during all four
  years of high school; she has earned numerous accolades for her
  accomplishments on the field, including the El Paso Times Player of
  the Year award as a sophomore and the district Most Valuable Player
  honor during her senior year, when she helped lead the Bulldogs to
  the District 1-5A championship; off the field, Ms. Casas has
  maintained a 99.97 grade point average, and she is active in many
  school organizations, including the Key Club, the National Honor
  Society, and the National Technical Honor Society; and
         WHEREAS, A gifted and dedicated student-athlete, Atzimba
  Casas is looking forward to playing for the UTEP Miners in the fall
  of 2013, and she is a source of great pride and excitement for her
  family and classmates as well as for the many soccer fans in the
  city of El Paso; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Atzimba Casas on signing a national
  letter of intent to play for The University of Texas at El Paso
  women's soccer team and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Casas as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
