R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Monika Winkler of Humble graduated as the
  valedictorian of the senior class of Holy Trinity Episcopal School
  in Houston in May 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
  highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction,
  Ms. Winkler demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range
  of subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted
  to her studies are myriad; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of proud mother Bonnie Walker, Ms.
  Winkler has further distinguished herself through her many
  extracurricular activities; a member of the National Honor Society,
  she was active with the student council and has volunteered
  numerous hours of service to better her community; in addition, she
  participated in school trips to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and
  Hawaii; this dynamic young woman has already completed collegiate
  level courses through San Jacinto College and plans to continue her
  education at Florida Southern College, studying pediatric
  medicine; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Monika Winkler has
  earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at
  Holy Trinity Episcopal, and her exceptional scholastic ability,
  hard work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to
  limitless opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Monika Winkler, valedictorian of
  the Holy Trinity Episcopal School Class of 2013, and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the next
  exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Winkler as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
