R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Kathy Bernal is retiring as band director at Eastern |
|
|
Hills High School in Fort Worth, bringing to a close a distinguished |
|
|
career in the field of music education that has spanned a rewarding |
|
|
29 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Bernal began her noteworthy career as the |
|
|
Assistant Band Director for Rosebud-Lott Independent School |
|
|
district before serving the Fort Worth Independent School District |
|
|
for twenty-six years where she has been widely regarded for her |
|
|
utmost dedication to her students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Bernal has |
|
|
remained active in numerous professional organizations including |
|
|
the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmaster's |
|
|
Association, and Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Bernal has earned many prestigious accolades |
|
|
including selection in Who's Who Among American Teachers, as |
|
|
Teacher of the Week, Teacher of the Year, and as a recipient of the |
|
|
Bayard H. Friedman Award for Teacher Excellence in Performing Arts; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Bernal is a dedicated professional who has |
|
|
diligently worked to improve the quality of education in her |
|
|
community; she has been a life-shaping influence on her students, |
|
|
and it is appropriate that she be honored on the occasion of her |
|
|
retirement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Kathy Bernal for her outstanding |
|
|
public service as a band director and extend to her best wishes for |
|
|
a happy and rewarding retirement; and be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Bernal as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
