R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, The girls' cross-country team from Stratford High |
|
|
School turned in a fine performance to finish in fifth place among |
|
|
the 1A schools participating in the University Interscholastic |
|
|
League State Championships, held on November 10, 2012, in Round |
|
|
Rock; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Elks recorded a cumulative time of 1 hour, 6 |
|
|
minutes, 42.71 seconds, with an average individual time of 13 |
|
|
minutes, 20.54 seconds; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Stratford's outstanding showing was the result of a |
|
|
superb team effort; the Elks were paced by Samantha Gonzalez, who |
|
|
finished the course in 12 minutes, 18.6 seconds, and she was |
|
|
followed by Alexie Wright, Karen Lozoya, Nohemi Ruedas, Noemy |
|
|
Franco, Erika Robles, and Yadhira Chavoya; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The success attained by the Stratford High |
|
|
cross-country runners is a testament to their hard work and |
|
|
commitment to excellence, and they may reflect with pride on their |
|
|
notable achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Stratford High School girls' |
|
|
cross-country team on its fifth-place finish among the 1A |
|
|
competitors at the 2012 UIL State Championships and extend to the |
|
|
runners and coaching staff sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
