R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Gruver High School spelling and vocabulary team
  won the University Interscholastic League Conference 1A
  championship at the annual academic state meet held in Austin May
  20-22, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, The most comprehensive literary and academic
  competition in the nation, the UIL academic state meet includes 23
  high school events; these contests complement the academic
  curriculum, motivating students to acquire higher levels of
  knowledge, confront issues of importance, and think critically; and
         WHEREAS, The Gruver spelling and vocabulary team qualified to
  advance to the state finals after taking first place in Conference
  1A Region 1 at the regional meet in Levelland on April 19; and
         WHEREAS, Coached by Sarah Clark, this outstanding group
  consists of Nikki Beasley, Zoe Cantrell, Cassie McKay, and Hannah
  Speck, all of whom contributed greatly to its overall success; and
         WHEREAS, Through their hard work and commitment to
  excellence, the members of the Gruver High School spelling and
  vocabulary team triumphed at the top level of UIL competition, and
  their accomplishment is a source of pride that they will remember
  for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Gruver High School spelling and
  vocabulary team on winning the 2013 UIL Conference 1A championship
  at the academic state meet and extend to the team's members sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
