R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Elta Alvarez is retiring from Almeda Elementary |
|
School in Houston on June 7, 2013, drawing to a close a long and |
|
rewarding career in education; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Alvarez became involved with Almeda in 1981, |
|
when her oldest son enrolled there; initially serving as a parent |
|
volunteer, she went on to work as a cashier and then began helping |
|
out in the classroom as a teacher assistant; in 1990, she enrolled |
|
in college to earn a bachelor's degree and certificate in |
|
interdisciplinary studies; after graduating in 1995, she returned |
|
to Almeda as a third grade bilingual teacher; she later served the |
|
school as a test coordinator and literacy coach, and she is retiring |
|
as a reading intervention teacher and instructional coordinator; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Alvarez has enjoyed the |
|
love and support of her husband, Jose Rolando, and her four |
|
children, Rolando, Meliza, Angela, and Ruben; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through her professionalism, dedication to her |
|
students, and commitment to excellence, Elta Alvarez has greatly |
|
benefited the quality of education at Almeda Elementary, and she |
|
may indeed reflect with pride on her accomplishments as she embarks |
|
on the next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Elta Alvarez on her retirement from |
|
Almeda Elementary School and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Alvarez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
