R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The untimely death of Lylian Randy Berry, Jr., of
  Fort Worth, on March 11, 2013, at the age of 42, deeply saddened his
  family and many friends; and
         WHEREAS, Randy Berry was born in New Orleans in 1970 to Lylian
  R. Berry, Sr., and Grace Hackett Berry; he attended public school in
  Fort Worth and graduated from high school in Limestone, Maine, in
  1988; he went on to study at the University of New Orleans, while
  working part-time as a lifeguard; answering his nation's call to
  duty, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years as a ground
  radio communications specialist, earning the Achievement Medal,
  the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the
  Air Force Overseas Ribbon--Long Tour, among other decorations; and
         WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Berry fulfilled his
  dream of becoming a firefighter and rescue diver; in 2006, he joined
  the Fort Worth Fire Department, where he distinguished himself as a
  member of the swift water/underwater rescue team; above all, he was
  a devoted father to his two teenage daughters and a caring neighbor
  to those in his south Fort Worth community; and
         WHEREAS, Although Randy Berry was taken much too soon, he
  leaves behind a legacy of compassion and commitment to public
  service that will continue to inspire all those who were privileged
  to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lylian Randy Berry,
  Jr., and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to
  his daughters, Desiree and Dominique Berry; to his parents, Lylian
  R. Berry, Sr., and Grace Hackett Berry; to his brother, Broderick J.
  Berry; to his sister, Lanita R. Berry King; to his
  great-grandmothers, Anna Mae Pleasant Berry and Nancy Avery
  Hackett; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family, and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Randy
  Berry.
