R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Brenda Ochoa of John F. Kennedy Elementary School |
|
|
has been named the 2013 Elementary Teacher of the Year by La Joya |
|
|
Independent School District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of Penitas, Ms. Ochoa earned her |
|
|
associate's degree in interdisciplinary studies at South Texas |
|
|
College and her bachelor's degree in communications and journalism |
|
|
from The University of Texas--Pan American; she has worked at |
|
|
Kennedy Elementary since 2008, teaching kindergarten, first grade, |
|
|
second grade, and fourth grade, and has also been recognized as the |
|
|
2013 Teacher of the Year at her school; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Ochoa dedicates herself to educational |
|
|
initiatives outside the classroom as well; as the secretary of the |
|
|
board of the Penitas Public Library, she has promoted literacy by |
|
|
helping to host community nights and raise funds for an academic |
|
|
scholarship for La Joya ISD students; in addition, she has |
|
|
sponsored the University Interscholastic League storytelling event |
|
|
and coached UIL oral reading; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Brenda Ochoa's commitment to the highest ideals of |
|
|
the teaching profession have greatly benefited the students of |
|
|
Kennedy Elementary, and she is indeed deserving of this prestigious |
|
|
award; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Brenda Ochoa for being named the |
|
|
2013 Elementary Teacher of the Year by La Joya Independent School |
|
|
District and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success in her important work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Ochoa as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
