R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dalia Aleman of Memorial Middle School in Mission
  received fitting recognition when she was named the 2012-2013
  Secondary Teacher of the Year by the La Joya Independent School
  District; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of migrant farmworkers, Ms. Aleman
  learned the importance of an education from her mother and father,
  and she graduated from The University of Texas--Pan American with a
  bachelor's degree in history; she joined the faculty of Memorial
  Middle School in 2001, and she currently teaches eighth-grade
  history and serves as chair of the department; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to ensuring the success of every child she
  teaches, Ms. Aleman uses Socratic questioning, simulations, and
  role-playing to engage her students, including dressing up as
  important characters in history; she shares the success of her
  classroom philosophy with other educators and trains teachers on
  lesson design and delivery; Memorial Middle School has honored her
  many contributions by naming her Teacher of the Month as well as
  Teacher of the Year; and
         WHEREAS, Her tireless work in behalf of students and teachers
  includes her service as a campus representative for the Association
  of Texas Professional Educators and as the founder and sponsor of
  the Silver Club, which encourages students to increase their
  awareness of the challenges faced by elderly people by volunteering
  in nursing homes and by interviewing their grandparents; and
         WHEREAS, Educators play a vital role in fostering the
  ability, intellect, and self-confidence of children during their
  formative years, and Dalia Aleman has helped many young Texans
  develop a love of learning and greater empathy for others that will
  serve them well throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dalia Aleman on her selection as
  the 2012-2013 La Joya ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year and extend
  to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important
  work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Aleman as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
