R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Texas is fortunate to have active and engaged
  citizens like Maya Sanchez of San Elizario, whose history of civic
  involvement is an inspiration to all who know her; and
         WHEREAS, A sixth-generation resident of San Elizario,
  Ms. Sanchez has undertaken myriad endeavors to benefit the
  community; dedicated to promoting ecologically sustainable
  practices, she is collaborating with AYUDA, Inc., to open a
  farmer's market in the summer of 2013; moreover, as a certified
  master gardener and director of the San Elizario Community Garden,
  she enjoys teaching area youth about farm-to-table practices; this
  dynamic Texan also serves as president of the San Elizario
  Incorporation Efforts Group and is working to open a new cafe in the
  area; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Sanchez earned her bachelor's degree in
  communication studies from the University of San Francisco and
  began her career with the CBS affiliate KPIX-TV in the Bay Area; she
  later was a producer at the NBC channel KTSM-TV in El Paso and spent
  seven years as a commercial producer in Los Angeles, working on a
  variety of global campaigns before returning to the Lone Star
  State; and
         WHEREAS, Maya Sanchez has demonstrated a lasting commitment
  to San Elizario and its residents, and she has earned widespread
  respect and appreciation; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Maya Sanchez for her service to the San
  Elizario community and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Sanchez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
