R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, In a history-making election on May 11, 2013, Harry
  LaRosiliere became the first African American mayor of Plano; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Haiti, Mr. LaRosiliere moved to New York
  with his family when he was three; he earned a bachelor's degree in
  geology from City College of New York and then went on to run a
  successful photography studio for eight years; since relocating to
  Plano in 1994, he has found further success as a financial planner;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. LaRosiliere previously served on the Plano City
  Council for two terms, from 2005 to 2011; during that time, he held
  appointments to the Economic Development Board, the Community
  Finance Committee, the Multi-Cultural Outreach Roundtable, the Tax
  Abatement Council Committee, and the Plano Health Facilities
  Development Corporation; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan currently sits on the advisory
  board of CASA of Collin County and on the President's Council of
  Texas Health Resources, and he is a member of the Plano Metro Rotary
  Club and the Plano Chamber of Commerce; he has also found time to
  coach soccer and basketball with the Plano Sports Authority, and he
  has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas
  and the Plano campus of Southern Methodist University; and
         WHEREAS, Harry LaRosiliere and his wife, Tracy, are the proud
  parents of two teenage daughters, Brianna and Maya; the family
  attends St. Luke "Community" United Methodist Church in Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, An able leader who has already made significant
  contributions to his community, Harry LaRosiliere has demonstrated
  an outstanding commitment to public service, and it is indeed a
  privilege to recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Harry LaRosiliere on his election
  as mayor of Plano and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success in his important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. LaRosiliere as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
