R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Sabih Khan has been recognized as a 2013 Richardson |
|
|
Real Hero for his outstanding contributions to civic life in the |
|
|
community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Real Heroes Award program is presented annually |
|
|
by the Richardson Coalition to honor those unsung individuals who |
|
|
best represent the spirit of Richardson; through a truly democratic |
|
|
process, nominees are chosen and voted on by members of the |
|
|
community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of Pakistan, Mr. Khan came to the United |
|
|
States at the age of two and is now a senior at Richardson High |
|
|
School; he has participated in the Junior Achievement program and |
|
|
has worked to promote financial literacy among students of all |
|
|
ages, volunteering with the JA of Dallas and its High School Heroes |
|
|
initiative; moreover, as president of his school's chapter of DECA, |
|
|
an organization that prepares emerging leaders for careers in |
|
|
marketing, finance, hospitality, and management, he has encouraged |
|
|
his fellow students to contribute their time to JA programs in the |
|
|
district's elementary schools; in addition, this dynamic young |
|
|
Texan holds down two part-time jobs and volunteers with the India |
|
|
Association of North Texas; for his notable efforts, he has |
|
|
received a Service Award from the Interact Club at Richardson High |
|
|
School; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sabih Khan has demonstrated a lasting commitment to |
|
|
making Richardson an even better place in which to live and work, |
|
|
and he may reflect with pride on his accomplishments as he looks |
|
|
forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Sabih Khan on his selection as a |
|
|
2013 Richardson Real Hero and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Khan as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
