R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Court Appointed Special Advocates of the South |
|
Plains has recognized Cynthia Shute of Lubbock as its second annual |
|
CASA Volunteer of the Year; and |
|
WHEREAS, CASA advocates serve as guardians ad litem, looking |
|
out for the best interests of children suffering from abuse or |
|
neglect; they are appointed by judges to watch over these children |
|
and to ensure that they get the attention they deserve in the often |
|
overburdened legal, social service, and foster care systems; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the past four years, Cynthia Shute has |
|
advocated for three different CASA families, and she has worked |
|
closely with Child Protective Services personnel, attorneys, and |
|
foster and adoptive parents; she has demonstrated exceptional |
|
commitment to the children she has served, providing them with |
|
mentoring opportunities and ensuring that placement families have |
|
access to all available resources; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through her compassion and hard work, Cynthia Shute |
|
has made a positive and lasting impact in the lives of children and |
|
families in her community, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring |
|
her for her dedication to the young people of Texas; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Cynthia Shute on being named CASA |
|
Volunteer of the Year by CASA of the South Plains and extend to her |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Shute as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
