H.R. No. 3047

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Court Appointed Special Advocates of the South Plains has recognized Cynthia Shute of Lubbock as its second annual CASA Volunteer of the Year; and

WHEREAS, CASA advocates serve as guardians ad litem, looking out for the best interests of children suffering from abuse or neglect; they are appointed by judges to watch over these children and to ensure that they get the attention they deserve in the often overburdened legal, social service, and foster care systems; and

WHEREAS, Over the past four years, Cynthia Shute has advocated for three different CASA families, and she has worked closely with Child Protective Services personnel, attorneys, and foster and adoptive parents; she has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the children she has served, providing them with mentoring opportunities and ensuring that placement families have access to all available resources; and

WHEREAS, Through her compassion and hard work, Cynthia Shute has made a positive and lasting impact in the lives of children and families in her community, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring her for her dedication to the young people of Texas; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Cynthia Shute on being named CASA Volunteer of the Year by CASA of the South Plains and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Shute as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
