R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Jim Robinson is retiring as chief appraiser of the |
|
Harris County Appraisal District in 2013, drawing to a close a |
|
notable career with the organization that has spanned nearly three |
|
decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, During his tenure, the district has been recognized |
|
by the International Association of Assessing Officers as a |
|
distinguished jurisdiction three times and by the Office of the |
|
Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts for its perfect compliance |
|
score; a prominent leader in the state's property tax community, |
|
Mr. Robinson has served as associate director of the former Texas |
|
School Tax Assessment Practices Board and as deputy director and |
|
executive director of the Texas Property Tax Board; moreover, he |
|
helped develop the state's minimum standards for taxation and |
|
appraisal operations, education, and training, and he has appeared |
|
and testified before committees of the Texas House of |
|
Representatives and Senate in regard to property tax law and |
|
operations on numerous occasions; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson also served the Lone Star State with |
|
distinction in the Texas State Guard, retiring after 27 years with |
|
the rank of major general; in addition, he was involved with the |
|
Division of Defense and Disaster Relief, the predecessor to today's |
|
Texas Division of Emergency Management currently under the Texas |
|
Department of Public Safety, and has served as a volunteer reserve |
|
deputy in Harris County Precinct 3; dedicated to area education, |
|
this engaged Texan has been president of the Round Rock Independent |
|
School District board of trustees and an adjunct faculty member in |
|
the law enforcement degree program at Texas State University; he |
|
has further contributed to the community as news director for |
|
KBRZ-Freeport and as a news correspondent for the Houston |
|
Chronicle; and |
|
WHEREAS, For 28 years, the Harris County Appraisal District |
|
has greatly benefited from the dedication and professionalism of |
|
Jim Robinson, and he may reflect with pride on his accomplishments |
|
as he looks forward to the next exciting chapter of his life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jim Robinson on his retirement from |
|
the Harris County Appraisal District and extend to him sincere best |
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Robinson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
