R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Bronwyn Scott is graduating as the valedictorian of
  the Kingwood High School Class of 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
  highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, Ms.
  Scott demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of
  subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to
  her studies are myriad; a member of the officer board of the French
  Club since her sophomore year, Ms. Scott served as the president of
  the National French Honor Society, and she earned a scholarship to
  study abroad in France when she won the statewide Texas French
  Symposium; additionally, she has competed in a number of University
  Interscholastic League academic events, and she joined her school's
  chapter of Health Occupations Students of America, advancing to the
  organization's state competition, in which she was a top 10
  finalist in the category of biotechnology; and
         WHEREAS, Further distinguishing herself as an award-winning
  musician, Ms. Scott played the clarinet in the Kingwood Wind
  Ensemble for four years and performed with the concert band and
  marching band, and she was one of only eight students chosen for a
  leadership position on the Flag Line; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Scott has received a full, merit-based
  scholarship to attend The University of Texas at Austin through the
  Forty Acres Scholars Program, which also awarded her the
  prestigious Stamps Family Charitable Foundation Scholarship; she
  plans to study biomedical engineering in preparation for a career
  in medicine; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Karl and Robin Scott,
  Bronwyn Scott has earned the respect and admiration of her teachers
  and classmates at Kingwood High School, and her exceptional
  scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have
  opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young
  Texan; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Bronwyn Scott, valedictorian of
  the Kingwood High School Class of 2013, and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for continued success as she begins the next exciting
  chapter of her life; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Scott as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
